Sree Chithra Ayurveda is promoted by a family with a history of around 400 years in the field of Ayurvedic treatment. OUR family known as Perumbillissery survived the ups and downs in the popularity and acceptance of Ayurvedic medical practices among the public over the years and maintained the tradition as a family of Ayurvedic physicians. The earlier Ayurvedic Physicians of the family have earned a glorious reputation for themselves predominantly gained by their contribution to the public during times of epidemics which was a frequent issue of bygone eras. Our Ancestors with their immense knowledge in medicinal preparation and nuances of Ayurvedic treatment were able to control many epidemics that affected their region. The great services of these Ancestors to society inspired later generations of the family to stick with Ayurveda and that has continued till the present. This is well evinced through the establishment of Sree Chithra group which presently runs reputed and successful enterprises like Sree Chithra Nursing home and Sree Chithra Ayur home.
Ayurveda in former years was taught from generation to generation through able practitioners and traditional Ayurvedic families. Later on Ayurveda colleges were established and university degrees were awarded. However it was only during the concluding periods of 20th century that Ayurveda really became a medical practice commonly recognised and accepted.
Alike many other traditional practitioners Our’s or Perumbillissery family also continued with our traditional ways of learning and practice and finally It was through Dr Vasudevan that our family broke the shells of traditional Ayurvedic practice and came out into the open world of modern day medical practices. Dr Vasudevan had secured a graduation in Ayurveda from Ayurvedic College and established a clinic for his own private practice. Hence it can be said that it was this clinic that laid the foundation for later enterprises and Dr Vasudevan can be considered as the founding father of what is presently known as the Sree Chithra Group.
The clinic steadily gained acceptance among public and as Ayurveda too began to get worldwide recognition the clinic too found more patients than it can handle.
Thus Dr Vasudevan’s son Dr Madhusudanan started feeling the need for a better facility.
